Full Moon in Capricorn, Lunar Eclipse, June26

******

A Partial Eclipse of the Full Moon is due on June 26. It will happen in the Tropical Sign of  Capricorn, with the Sun in the opposite Sign of Cancer. I re-post here the article I wrote concerning this Eclipse in the 2010 Forecast post (June to September):

The Eclipses, once again, accompany the change of season, a significant fact that will make their influence more marked and also longer lasting.
The Capricorn Lunar Eclipse is Partial, visible after sunset from Australasia, and before sunrise in western South and North America.
The Moon, central to the whole interpretation, is transiting in close proximity to Pluto in Capricorn, separated from the position of this planet, as projected on the ecliptic, by a mere 0 degrees and 41 minutes of longitude. The Sun then is of course exactly 180 degrees away from the Moon and also Pluto. Even by itself this configuration would heighten the intensity of the ecliptic Moon, but there is much more. Mercury is in Cancer with the Sun on the day, while Jupiter and Uranus, still conjunct in Aries, are 90 degrees away from both Sun and Moon; while Saturn in Virgo, opposite to them, is also in a wide 90 degrees angle to Sun and Moon. This configuration is known as a Grand Cross, usually connecting four celestial bodies, but, in this case, linking instead seven: Sun, Moon, Pluto, Mercury, Jupiter, Uranus and Saturn.
Grand Crosses are tough, tight knots, forcing planets to work together, especially problematic if difficult planets are involved, as here are Saturn, Uranus and Pluto, heavy weights of the Zodiac. This Eclipse seems to draw attention and energize the knotty transits coming into activity during this season, the squares and opposition of Saturn to Pluto and Jupiter-Uranus respectively; more about these specific transits later. Some intensely emotional events can be the result of such a configuration corresponding with the time of an eclipse, because the combined forces of Jupiter and Uranus in Aries will create a fierce opposition to the might of Saturn in Libra and Pluto in Capricorn, also challenging each other: a time of quickening, a protracted labour inducing the birth of the New (a forceps birth rather than a gentle water birth). Unavoidably astrologers would notice the similarity between this event and the last lunar eclipse of 2009 (or first eclipse of 2010, depending where you were at the time), the one that preceded the Haiti and Chile’s disasters. The Sun and Moon were then placed in the Sign each other occupies in the June eclipse, on opposite hemispheres. The Sun was separating from a conjunction to Pluto and both Sun and Moon were widely square Saturn in Libra. But there is a great difference too.
All Eclipses are grouped under one specific number, known as their Saros number. A Saros group begins with a particular eclipse; other eclipses follow, at an interval of 18 years approximately, all falling around the same degree of longitude.
So, for instance, the Lunar Eclipse of June 26 2010 belongs to the Saros number 120. This group of Lunar Eclipses began with one that took place on October 5, 982 AD, close to the beginning of the last Millennium. The Eclipse that began a series is said to give its colour, tone and vibration to the lot of them. Therefore it is very important to study the first Eclipse of a Saros series to get a feel of what we are dealing with. This first eclipse of the series shows a highly charged Horoscope, but also one with many redeeming factors. The Saros number of the December eclipse instead began with an extremely difficult eclipse in 1000 AD, showing more clearly the potential destructive nature of all the following eclipses of the same number.

  1. Lorna Guacher Says:

how many cycles of the moon are in June 2010, and how will it affect me as a Virgo?

    Thank you,

    Lorna

    • livingmoonastrology Says:

Hi Lorna, well, there are 4 major phases of the Moon in June.
The last Quarter Moon in Pisces, on June 5, will begin a period of self-reflection and perhaps inner conflict especially if your Virgo birthday falls between 6 and 9 September. Relationships may be at the center of your pondering. Great time to grow and learn from past experiences, but not ideal to start anything new.
The New Moon in Gemini, on June 12, would be particularly significant if you were born between the 13 and 16 of September. The transiting Sun and Moon will be at right angle to your birth Sun, stimulating you to embrace changes, begin something new, despite obvious difficulties.
The First Quarter in Virgo, on June 19, could prove somewhat difficult if your birthday falls between the 19 and 22 of September (see Saturn in Virgo below). The Moon in Virgo will be in fact conjunct Saturn on the day of the phase, probably throwing some big obstacles on your way, including a tendency to despond and give up. Saturn can work in our favour only if we accept some responsibility and are not afraid to work a bit harder to achieve results.
The Eclipsed Full Moon in Capricorn, conjunct Pluto, will be more relevant for you if you were born between the 26 and 29 of August. This phase could encourage you to tackle some core issues that have been disturbing you for a while. Pluto could help here to eliminate from your life negative habits, ways of relating etc. with greater ease.
Other transits need to be considered to get a clearer picture. For instance Mars has just entered Virgo and will be in your Sign until July 30. This could accelerate the pace of life for all Virgo people, making you more assertive and active. Use the energy wisely or you could become impatient and over-critical during this period.
Saturn is still in Virgo too, until July 21. If you were born between 19 to 22 September you will receive your last dosage in 30 years of a Saturn conjunct your Sun. If this is the case, your life may as well begin anew after this transit is gone, all based on a new sense of your place in the world. Depending on other factors in your Chart this could be the start of a whole new cycle.
Of course, many more factors need consideration, not just the Sun Sign, such as the Moon Sign and the planetary and house positions in your Birth Chart, because they will all respond in their own way to the phases of the Moon, working in unison with the Sun.
Hope this answered your question. Cheers, Paola Emma

  2. Jolie Says:

How will eclipsed full moon affect capricorns and what can be done to take full advantage of the planetary action this month?

    • livingmoonastrology Says:

Hi Jolie, I will do my best to answer your query as soon as possible. At the moment a deadline is keeping me very busy.
Thank you for your interest, it is appreciated. Ciao for now, Paola Emma

    • livingmoonastrology Says:

Hi Jolie, I finally find some time to answer the emails.
Your question is very general, while Eclipses work very much on the particular. I’ll try to explain. An Eclipse of the Moon is like a Full Moon, with Moon and Sun on opposite sides of the Earth. When the alignment is closer to perfection we experience an Eclipse of the Moon. The Eclipse is said to intensify the power of the Full Moon. Emotional extremes and heightened awareness are all gifts of the Full Moon, a time of climax, a peak experience of sorts. The Eclipse enhances and deepens the effect of the phase.
Every year, around the same time, the Full Moon will occur in the same Sign, like the Capricorn Full Moon of June or July. If you are a Capricorn Sun by birth then this could be termed your Full Moon, a particularly intense emotional time every year for you, but also a time for important realizations. Only a proper Birth Chart can possibly show where and how this Full Moon (and accompanying Eclipse this year) could affect your life. Without a Birth Chart the information is too generic.
Despite their often negative reputation Eclipses are not harbingers of doom, individually or collectively. They are rather opportunities to feel in a deeper way our connection to the magical universe we live in. We should be amazed not just by the beauty and strangeness of the phenomenon, but also by the improbability of a star like the Sun and a satellite like the Moon to appear to have the same diameter from the relative viewpoint of planet Earth. This meaningful coincidence impressed greatly our ancestors, certainly more in touch with the Moon’s phases than we can be, with our electric lights and gadgets shutting out the stars.
Please, have a great Eclipse. If interested, I am available for private consultation, in person or via a CD recording.
      Ciao for now, Paola Emma

  3. Kimberly Campbell Says:

Greetings! My sister’s birthday is June 26, and as a Cancer has always been affected by the full moon. Can you tell what she may expect since her birthday is not only a full moon but a lunar eclipse as well? Thank you so much!

    • livingmoonastrology Says:

Hi Kimberly, sorry for the delay in answering. I have been too busy.
Few minutes ago I posted an answer to an Eclipse query from Jolie. A lot of what I said there could apply to your sister, because this Full Moon-Eclipse will be particularly significant for the Signs of Cancer, where the Sun will be during the Eclipse and Capricorn where the Moon will be instead. All Cardinal Signs in fact may feel the emotional impact of this phenomenon, so we can include people with planetary emphasis on Aries and Libra too.
In the instance of your sister the effect is somewhat assured because her birthday is the same day. A precise time of birth would determine however how close the Eclipse degree (4 degrees 46 minutes) is to the degree of her Birth Sun. And how close Pluto, conjunct the Moon during the Eclipse, is from the opposition to her Birth Sun.
A study of the Birth Chart as a whole would be necessary to estimate the possible impact of any transit, including this Eclipse. Where was Pluto at the time of birth? What aspects Pluto received from Sun, Moon and Planets. Was Pluto prominent in an Angle or obscured in a Cadent House? Nothing can happen via the agency of the transits that is not somehow ‘written’ in the Birth Chart. For some people Pluto transits are not only life-changing but life-shattering. For others they instead mark periods of renewal, when core issues come up to the surface of consciousness and are finally dealt with and often resolved.
All Cancerians are Lunar people (governed by the Moon), but there are marked differences between different types. And we cannot underestimate the power of other transits concurrent with the Eclipse, like, in this case, the re-occurring square from Saturn in Libra and, coming up, the square from Uranus in Aries.
Hope this answer your question. If interested, I provide in depth readings in person or recorded on CD.
      Cheers, Paola Emma

  4. Fiona Says:

The Lunar eclipse happens in my opposite sign of Capricorn and while the sun is in my sign of cancer.. then the solar eclipse happens on my birthday (11 July 1981). Then a few weeks after that, I start my saturn return to Libra. :O

    • livingmoonastrology Says:

Hi Fiona, it appears that the Lunar Eclipse on June 26, on 04° Capricorn, same degree as transiting Pluto, will form a very significant angle with your natal Saturn and Jupiter. The Solar Eclipse is of course very important too, happening as it does on your birthday and coinciding with such an important period as your first Saturn Return.
Your natal Saturn and Jupiter on 03°/04° Libra will also be involved with all the other Cardinal Signs’ transits (Jupiter in Aries, Uranus in Aries, Pluto in Capricorn). All transits involving your natal Saturn will also involve your natal Jupiter, so that all periods of psychological growth and adjustments to the demands of a practical life will also be periods of mental expansion and learning, throughout your life.
The House’ positions of all these transiting planets will decide in which areas of experience the need will rise for creating greater security and taking on more responsibilities (Saturn), to face some darkness or psychological issues that have remained hidden so far (Pluto), and dare to overcome personal limitations and conditionings in order to live a more authentic and autonomous life (Uranus). Jupiter will be opposing your Saturn and Jupiter too, so that your desire to improve your situation and your idealistic beliefs will be tested by the Saturn Return (opposition) and also other areas, depending on the natal positions of the planets involved.
If interested, I provide in depth personal reading or CD recording. Check the Consultations’ page for details.
Have a great Saturn Return. It will change your life and mature you in many positive ways, I am sure.

  5. Kim Anson Says:

I was reading your response to the Virgo above, regarding the impact of the lunar eclipse, however, you never addressed my “decante” and the effect it will have on me. I am a Virgo, dob 9/12/64, 8:34pm, CST, Dallas, Tx. Can you give me an idea of what I can expect from this event… I am already not liking that I’ve been dealing with the Saturn influence for sometime and then that it retrograded back into Virgo, just when I thought I’d be able to breathe a little.

    hello,
i’m curious if you can share how this affect might be affecting me as a capricorn. the energy building to the full moon is really ouchy in my relationship life and is also feeling ouchy in terms of the core of me feeling quite discombobulated. more than usual.

thank you very much if you are able to respond! i appreciate your sharing of your gift in this way!

  8. Jacqui Scarr Says:

    Its my 48th birthday tomorrow – 26th – i,m so confused about my life – any ideas? Thanks, Jacqui x x x x

    • livingmoonastrology Says:

Hi Jacqui, I apologize for the very late answer. Astrologers go through eclipses too! And I certainly was affected by the same Capricorn eclipse we are discussing here.
I feel it would be still OK to answer now, because eclipses tend to penetrate our lives for months before and after they actually occur. As time goes by perhaps we may be able to ‘see’ their purpose more clearly.
Well, you don’t provide me with much information, only that your birthday fell on the 26th, day of the Capricorn Lunar Eclipse. Your Sun Sign will be connected with the Eclipse for certain, but what about the rest of your Birth Chart, in which way it is resonating with the Eclipse and the current transits in general? With your Sun between 3 and 5 degrees of Cancer this event is mainly highlighting the fact that Pluto is transiting now (and will be transiting until the end of 2011) in opposition to your Sun.
Pluto confronts us with difficult realities and difficult aspects of ourselves and others during a transit to the Sun, the center of consciousness. A planet, when forming such a relationship with the Sun, is brought into the light of consciousness, is revealed to us in a new light. What is revealed with Pluto are often aspects that we have kept well hidden even from ourselves, those dark traits we would rather not acknowledge, if we could, because they seem to deny the ‘good’ person we thought or felt we were. Or we may be confronted by those traits in other people close to us. Power struggles and emotionally destructive relationships are just the outward image of the inner turmoils. It is important to look courageously into the eyes of those inner demons. This may be a period during which you will have to make important choices in order to move ahead, and perhaps lose something or someone you thought you couldn’t do without.
It is not all gloom and doom though. Pluto is also ready to empower you, to supply you with a more honest outlook on life and on yourself, ultimately showing you how really strong and resilient you are.
This transit is only one amongst many that would be active for you at this moment. Only a careful study of your Birth Chart can provide you with more ‘real’ answers to your problems. For information on the astrological service I can provide at a distance, please check my Consultations Page.
Hope you are feeling better now.
Soldier on. Life is worth living. Love and Light, Paola Emma
